General informations

The Mux4 and Mux8 multiplexers allow the connection of 1 to 8 measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, comparators, scales...) with a PC or other similar equipment equipped with a USB port or an RS 232 interface.  The Mux 8 is only equipped with an RS 232 port

It supports measuring instruments equipped with the following interfaces:

  • Digimatic : Mitutoyo, Mahr
  • Opto RS232 : Sylvac, Tesa, Bowers etc..
  • RS232
  • Analog outputs, single or bipolar, in voltage or in current.

The recognition of the instruments is automatic.

Main features

  • One RS 232 port for connection to a PC (only on Mux8)
  • One USB port for connection to a PC
  • 4 or 8 inputs for instruments.
  • 1 external control input (pedal).
  • Storage temperature : -40 °C to +70 °C.
  • Operating temperature : +5°C to +40°C.
  • Maximum relative humidity : 80 %.
  • Dimensions: L 57mm, l 65mm, h 35 mm.
  • Weight : 150 grams.
  • Power supply 235 V Consumption : 2 VA
Connection

  • Mitutoyo and Mahr instruments are connected to the Mux4 via their original cable (Digimatic)
  • Instruments respecting the Opto RS232 duplex standard (e.g. Sylvac, Tesa, ...) are connected via a cable ref 18010
  • The instruments with an RS 232 output use the cable ref 181XX. This cable can be delivered ready to use or very simply configured by the user to meet each particular need thanks to the MuxConfig software.
  • The instruments equipped with an analog voltage or current output use the 189xx cable: ±5V, ±10V, 0-5V, 0-10V, 4-20mA, ±20mA, 0-20mA.

Reading the instruments

The reading of the instruments can be obtained in three different ways:

  • By a software request received on the communication port (USB or RS 232).
  • By pressing a pedal connected to the Mux4.
  • By pressing the transfer button on the instrument.

This configuration allows the PC to acquire measurements from the various instruments. The Winmux software allows direct data entry in the Excel or Open Office spreadsheet.

Mux 4 et Mux 8

The Mux 4 and 8 Metro multiplexers are widely used in the watch industry and its suppliers.

These small boxes make it possible to centralize measurements from instruments of different types and brands for use on SPC software.

Our Mux boxes are compatible with the vast majority of instrument models (micrometers, comparators, calipers) and are compatible with multiple brands, such as Sylvac, Tesa, Mitutoyo, Mahr etc.

We make smart cables that convert instrument signals for use on Mux. Thus we are able to connect a wide variety of devices: Scales, Displays, torque wrenches etc.
